Service & Philanthropy

Sigma Phi Epsilon is dedicated to the community in Los Angeles and contributing to various charities.  Many of our men are involved in various service learning programs through USC.  Our chapter has also participated in events such as Relay for Life.  In the the 2008 Relay for Life, SigEp ranked first among all USC fraternities in money raised and raised over $1000 for the American Cancer Society.

In addition to participating in all of the sororities’ philanthropic events throughout the year, SigEp holds their own philanthropy.  In 2008, we held the Brian Barr Classic, a golf tournament to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis Research.  The event is named for Brian Barr, a recent undergrad brother from our chapter who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis.

The last two years we have held the SigEp annual Dodgeball Tournament.  We continue to donate the money towards helping with Cystic Fibrosis, and all of our proceeds have gone to The Living Breath Foundation.  Over the past two years, the Cal Beta chapter has donated nearly $5000 to The Living Breath Foundation from our annual tournament.

Since we have the opportunity to do so, we believe it is our responsibility to give back to the community.  This is why we participated in every sororities' philanthropy event.  This past year we won the championship in Tri Delta's Kickball Tournament and placed second in Adpi's Row Cup (soccer).  Participation and success in sorority philanthropies continues to be one of SigEp's strong suits.
