Leadership

Campus Leadership

Sigma Phi Epsilon’s motto is “Building Leaders for the World’s Communities.”  In order to stay true to this motto, both our chapter and the national organization are committed to doing all that is necessary to develop its members into successful leaders.

We have a plethora of leaders in various campus organizations.  In recent years, we have had a Greek Senator, three USC Government executive cabinet members, an Honor Society President many members on the IFC executive board and the presidents of an a cappella group and student business organization.

We currently have two members on the IFC Executive board for the 2008 calendar year (one of only three houses that has multiple members).

Jens Midthun ('09) was elected president of the Undergraduate Student Government for the 2008-2009 school year, winning a landslide election with 67% of the vote.

Leadership Continuum

Nationally, Sigma Phi Epsilon created the award-winning Leadership Continuum.  This program is a nationally renowned series of distinct and progressive leadership opportunities aimed at teaching and reinforcing SigEp values to a Brother from the day he joins to the day he graduates.  Through self-discovery, analysis, and interaction, Brothers develop skills necessary to lead balanced lives and to continue leading the fraternity world.

At EDGE, a SigEp new member will experience a 24-hour lesson in overcoming obstacles toward a life of achievement.  He will meet SigEps from other campuses and dynamic volunteers who will help him succeed.  (All new members attend this event)

At the Carlson Leadership Academy, elected officers develop key life skills and share best practices to lead their chapter to excellence.  (Our chapter sends at least 4 representatives each year)

At the Ruck Leadership Institute, SigEp’s most talented Brothers develop critical mentoring skills to push our chapters to be the best that they can be.

Finally, the Tragos Quest to Greece, SigEp’s capstone of leadership development, truly separates our Fraternity from others. Life has meaning and purpose, and SigEp is a living part of your life experience.

In the last 3 years, four members were selected to attend the Ruck Leadership Institute (a program which selects only 150 undergrads every year) and two members were accepted to attend Tragos Quest to Greece (a program limited to only 16 SigEps a year).
